图书馆

The Thompson - Jones 图书馆 offers opportunities for lifelong learning and provides an experience that is beyond a traditional trip to the library. The freestanding, two-story building in the heart of campus has a separate Lower School 图书馆 for our Transitional Kindergarten-5th grade students and a combined Middle and Upper School 图书馆 for our grade 6-12 students. Each library offers a wide range of both print and ebooks.

Students have access to electronic databases and research materials in addition to a wide range of technology to meet their educational needs. There are four full time librarians who are available to students throughout the day and to assist with research needs. The libraries offer a variety of learning environments and resources to support different types of interactions and to promote student engagement. The Thompson - Jones 图书馆 is a vibrant hub of the school that is constantly evolving to provide for the changing needs of our students.

Lower School Experience

Lower school students are provided with a caring and warm environment in which a love of reading is nurtured. 图书馆 lessons are held in our storywell (a space that even the very oldest Providence Day students like to return to) and students can be found reading throughout the library on beanbags, window seats, or in the antique bathtub! From cookouts to book clubs, Reading with Rover to competing with Battle of the Books, author visits to scavenger hunts, there is something for all students to enjoy.

Middle School Experience

Middle school students have their own fiction collection which is housed in a middle school only lounge environment complete with a fireplace. Students are encouraged to relax and curl up with a good book. They can also participate in the three grade level book clubs. The students have access to a vast collection of print and electronic resources to enrich their studies and a variety of spaces for individual and group work.

Upper School Experience

Upper School students have access to print and electronic resources, study spaces, and a recording studio. The collection of resources and the variety of spaces in the library helps support self-directed learning. The Upper School Book Club holds monthly meetings to discuss books, 电影, and authors, and hosts several movie nights in the library throughout the school year.
